What we did

FOUR acted as the centre’s full service marketing team, delivering a complete programme of support over many years:
 

Rebrand and relaunch, creating a fresh identity and ensuring a confident introduction to the city.
 

Strategic planning and board engagement, developing and reporting on clear marketing strategies.
 

Tenant engagement, building strong relationships and creating joint marketing activity to amplify retailer offers.
 

Proactive PR and social media, providing consistent storytelling and growing the centre’s digital presence.
 

Seasonal campaigns and key events, from Valentine’s to Christmas, designed to drive footfall and create memorable experiences.
 

Crisis and COVID communications, ensuring safe return messaging, updating visitors in line with government guidance, and supporting retailers through periods of uncertainty.
 

Store openings and launches, maximising awareness and excitement around new arrivals.

The Challenge

With no internal marketing team the challenge was both the scale and the variety of responsibility. We were required to balance high-level strategic planning with daily delivery across multiple channels, all while managing the needs of tenants, the expectations of the board and the interests of the public. COVID brought additional pressures, demanding rapid, reassuring and accurate communication to protect customer confidence and maintain trust.

Reflections

Our work with Chantry Place was built on a longstanding partnership that spanned many years.

Acting as their marketing team, we became a trusted extension of the centre’s operation, providing continuity, creativity and reassurance during both normal trading and exceptional times. This relationship shows how full service support, delivered with consistency and care, can help a retail destination evolve, stay relevant and thrive.

As a major regional shopping centre without an in-house marketing team, Chantry Place required a partner to manage all aspects of its marketing and communications.

From the very start, this included delivering a complete rebrand for the centre, establishing a new identity that would resonate with visitors, tenants and the wider city. Over time the need evolved, from driving day-to-day engagement and seasonal campaigns, to navigating unprecedented challenges such as COVID, when clear and reassuring communication was vital to support customers returning to shop safely.
